Viet Nam's Nguyen Tien Minh shared third place at the Yonex Open Japan badminton tournament after losing to world and tournament No 1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia in the semi-finals on Saturday in Tokyo.
It was the 12th time the pair met and the 11th time the Vietnamese failed to overcome the top seed, losing 10-21, 5-21 in just half of an hour.
Also in third place was Huan Gao of China who went down 12-21, 12-21 to Kenichi Tago.
Lee yesterday claimed gold medal defeating No 7 seed Tago, 23-21, 21-17. — VNS
